Clients are assured that everything they discuss or disclose in counselling will be held in the strictest confidence, and will not be revealed to anyone else without their expressed consent.
Exceptions to this involve disclosures or significant risk of child abuse/neglect, expressed intention or imminent risk of harm to oneself or others, and written court orders.
Client information and records are kept in a secure Google cloud-storage under strict encryption (https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/encryption/default-keys).
As per the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers guidelines, client files are retained for seven years and then destroyed securely.
