So many struggle with past trauma, unhealthy cycles from addiction addiction or mood disorders that just seem to take hold of your life. You know there’s a better way but you don’t know how to start. Or maybe you’ve tried to address some of those issues but you need some help to get you where you want to go.
I have a passion for supporting people using psychotherapy combined with complementary alternative modalities that fit where they are at in their life journey. I have unique expertise in trauma counselling, including the Traumatic Incident Reduction technique. I specialize in addictions, mood disorders and mindfulness-based strategies. I also have a holistic approach to counselling, and I like to explore the mind, body, and spirit using my certification as an Integrative Mental Health Professional.
I am a registered Social Worker (RSW) with over 20 years of counselling experience in mental health and addiction. My diverse background in counselling and commitment to professional development allows me to use various complementary techniques that would best suit your needs. These include Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, among others, that would help meet you where you are in your growth process.
My goal as a practitioner is to help people get through stressful challenges by questioning negative thoughts and understanding the source of specific behaviours and emotional patterns to empower them to make functional changes. I’ve always been able to help people grow and evolve and look forward to doing the same with you. Reach out to get started!
Outside the office:
I am a person on the move outside of the therapy room! As a clinician that sits most of the day, movement like walking in nature with my dogs, going to the gym, playing soccer and yoga are really important to me. I enjoy reading, journaling, meditating, watching comedy shows, cooking or playing games with my family and friends in my spare time. I have three grow children and two large dogs who I enjoy showering with love. I am interested in learning new things and am part of a trivia team that meets and competes every other Wednesday evening. I enjoy working on my health and well being in my spare time and that includes doing things within the community such as cleaning my neighborhood, or volunteering my time or services. My biggest passion outside of my dogs would be travel! I love seeing the world and would love to continue to learn from the different cultures and people of the world.
